The Endless Benefits Of Decorating Your Home For Sale That You Won’t Want To Miss!
Buyers love to see staged houses. Wouldn’t you? Staged homes make a house look so much cleaner, enticing, spacious, and just overall cozier. Homes that are either not staged at all, or poorly staged, lack this advantage. Homes that are staged have a complete leg up when it comes to buyers. See: 15 Home Staging Tips Designed to Sell.
Many people have the misconception that staging a home is expensive, and takes a very long time. This couldn’t really be further from the truth. Staging a home is not expensive, you can actua
lly do it yourself. Bonus, if you’ve still got all of your furniture in the house (provided it is attractive furniture).
You can read so many articles online that teach you tips such as how to arrange artwork, what kind of towels to hang in a bathroom, how to arrange throw pillows, and how to decorate a coffee table. Read: Staging vs Decorating: What’s the Difference?
There really is no excuse to not stage your home when it can cost next to nothing, and doesn’t take that much time. Not to mention the fact, that it isn’t all work. It actually can be pretty fun. You can even m
ake a party out of it by calling your friends and asking them to come over and help. Chances are, they’ll be thrilled to ask, as if they are really your friends, they’ll be more than happy to help you out! Offer them lunch, and other snacks while you all get to work.
Don’t forget to buy some fresh flowers, and new towel. You should keep a spare set of (unwashed) towels that you pull out and place only when a potential buyer comes to see your house. New towels never look the same again after they’re washed, so you’ll want to make sure you don’t use them (even though it can sound kind of silly). It really makes a big difference.
Also put out some fresh hand soap in the bathrooms; again, unused. Don’t forget to set the dining table, as it also adds a cozy vibe. This is a great excuse to bring out your fine China, which usually rarely sees the light of day!
The whole point of staging a home is to make it to where buyers can actually see themselves coming home to this house every day, and waking up to it. When you stage it in such as way as if they already live there, it makes it much, much easier for them to imagine themselves there. This is why it is so critical that you remove any and all family photos.

I purchased a home about three years ago that was staged. I had no problems, I loved the house just as much as I did when I first saw it staged. Why do some people get upset when they finally see the home empty?
Hi Heather. Congratulations on your home! Generally, the disappointment that people experience after seeing the home un-staged is in a home that is extremely small that was decorated to look larger. Another instance is when people don’t have the money to decorate the way it was when they saw it. They bring their furniture in, and realize that the home doesn’t look as nice.
